Lena Dunham and her friends would do well to stop being such GIRLS (and be ladies instead!)

The HBO series “Girls” has done remarkably well in it’s short time of syndication.  Creator/producer/director/star Lena Dunham has gained critical acclaim for her series, which purports to depict a realistic look into the gritty lives of 4 young women living in a less than perfect urban New York setting.

I personally am all about the truth and very much appreciate the idea of realism.  However, this show REALLY rubs me the wrong way.  No matter what anyone tells you, the show is filthy and is all about sex.  Watch the following video for me to expound upon these ideas.  And also let me tell you some about a girl who is as real as real can be (thanks Garth Brooks!), but is still very much a lady!  As is always the case, the video is safe for all eyes and ears!

friends, I really do usually try to keep it to 2 minutes,

but I just couldn’t help it!

*I meant to say you will gain more than you miss by NOT watching that show…

Recap Schmecap:

1)  I believe in free speech.

2)  I have watched a few episodes of “Girls” (but I swear on my favorite lip gloss that I will never watch another one).

3)  Sin is Sin

4)  Wickedness NEVER was Happiness (Alma 41:10)

5)  Don’t disregard a truth/ claim I make just cuz it’s churchy and you might not be into that kind of thing…

5)  I don’t hate anyone (except for Satan)

6)  I think that show has some good thematic substance, but the junk outweighs it BIG TIME.

7) Katherine doesn’t always look show-stoppin hot, but still keeps her clothes on…

8)  Engaging in the sorts of behaviors that show portrays will NOT solve your problems.  It will multiply them!

9)  I never intend to be preachy or unkind or judgmental, but I ain’t afraid to have a strong opinion (duh!)

10)  The devil twists truth for his own purposes (William Shakespeare, “The Merchant of Venice”)

Not trying to sound conceited…

but who else do you know who can do this when she’s still in her pajamas?

(Actually, I’m not sure that’s something to be proud of.)

Compare to this (0:35-1:10):

this song is weird and kinky and breathy and I don’t like it,

but just wanted to include for the comparison

But once again, allow me to visually remind you

of the references I made in a brief 2 minutes:

Don’t make people (celebrities or otherwise) feel stupider…

Imagethan they likely already do.

(wish we could change this to “Don’t feel stupid”!)

If you know anything at all about me by now, you know that I know that while John Mayer is a writer, musician, and poet who is talented beyond measure, he clearly has had his share of sins.  But Mr. Mayer still is a son of God, he still deserves another chance, and based on what I’ve read and seen about him (which is a LOT!), he truly is sorryIf the Savior died for everyone, John isn’t left behind.  And just so you know, Shakespeare loved the idea of redeemed playboys.  So do I.

Though I rarely (if ever) use profanity, a certain Halloween costume is a BITCH!

I’ll let the video speak for itself:

Regina George may think people can wear whatever they want on October 31st.

ImageBut Katherine Anne does NOT!

There are many beautiful, wonderful things in life in which to find humor & joy.

The Holocaust is NOT one of them.

If you agree with me (and you should!), please spread this message/post anyway that you can.

Oh, also I read a book by the German LDS General Authority F. Enzio Busche.

It changed my life.

Must write about it soon.  Until then, here’s a wonderful video by him:

But back to costumes (bookending again!),

here is one of my personal favorites of my own:

Strong women are hot, ya’ll.

Click here for some of my other Halloween hits (literally!) and misses…

And speaking of, if somebody’s costume offends you,

don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself.

Take a tip from my friend (pictured above!) Rosie (the Riveter).

And to sum up in one brilliant phrase my beliefs on costumes,

allow me to quote from THE greatest playwright of all time.

“There is much truth in jest (for good and for bad)”

~William Shakespeare

Now it’s time for a little text-to-self connection (my favorite part!):

Righteous Readers: what do your Halloween Costumes say about you (for good and for bad)?

PS.  If you think the fact that there is a Picture of a Pumpkin on this Post (about Halloween!) is a coincidence, THINK AGAIN.

Young Love? That’s LUDACRIS!

Watch how I teach some beautiful gospel principles from a famous brand of infant comida:

Gentle Rebuke:

Costume-change!

Here are a few links to further explore ideas that I mentioned:

1)  Romeo and Juliet is hardly a good example of a healthy relationship.

2)  Modest is the hottest (this is a phrase I don’t hate OR love…will further explore later)

3)  I am 16 going on 17 (correct dating age)

4)  “Ludacris” is a real word, FYI!

5)  MOVE ON FROM MISTAKES OF YOUR PAST!

And I don’t think the following video is completely necessary, but many of the best things in life are not.  So check it stat!
