Be Not Weary In Well Doing…

Screen shot 2015-08-23 at 9.55.00 PM

“My life is like my shoes-to be worn out in service.”
-Spencer W. Kimball (former prophet/president of TCOJCOLDS; deceased)

“Be not weary in well doing.”
-Galatians 6:9 (in the New Testament in the Bible)

“Men [and women!] should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will.”
-Doctrine & Covenants 57:28

Are your shoes worn out?
Are you weary in well doing?
Are you anxiously engaged?
🙂

My greatest creation is still yet to be.

Image

“The sweetest melody is the one we haven’t heard.”
-U2

“We are proud of the artistic heritage that the Church has brought to us from its earliest beginnings, but the full story of Mormonism has never yet been written nor painted nor sculpted nor spoken.”
-Spencer Kimball; “The Gospel Vision of the Arts” (I LOVE THIS TALK!)

“The rest is still unwritten.”
-Natasha Bedingfield

My greatest creation
is still yet to be.
I daily am searching for
that inspiration in me

I’m no special professional,
no Shakespeare or Mayer
but I desire to express,
and have something to share

So give me some time,
and I just might be victorious
in creating something beautiful,
valuable, and glorious.

 ❤ Katherine

My greatest creation…

is still yet to be.

“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth his spirit [is better] than he that taketh a city.”

-King Solomon

Proverbs 16:32

in learning to manage?

DON’T look back in anger.

Anger is “a sin of thought which, if not controlled,

may be the forerunner of vicious and violent acts.”

Anger.

Anger should not be fully expressed

Nor should it be fully repressed.

When dealing with this sin of thought,

Just try to do your very best!

Fourth Time’s a Charm!

Screen shot 2013-10-22 at 6.12.07 PM

My naughty Nissan FINALLY passed its emission inspection!

And I bought myself a huge bottle of chocolate milk to celebrate

🙂

Folks, it’s real important to do our best to stay on top of responsibilities like this (If anyone knows what it’s like to get overwhelmed by car stuff, it’s me!  But thankfully I’ve come a long way). One way to think of it is being a wise steward over your stuff.  Seriously, try to maintain your vehicle so you can keep yourself and others safe and happy.  Sound good?  I just knew you’d see it my way…

“We are stewards over our bodies, minds, families, and properties.”

FRIENDS!

1)  What things are YOU a steward over?

2)  Why is wise stewardship so important?

3)  How can you be an even better steward?

Okay, gotta go drink down my yummy treat.

Hmm, maybe I should pour it over a bowl of Lucky Charms!

(look at my title!)

I like pretzels AND kisses,

Image                           Image

but some are more appropriate to share than others, know what I mean?

What do kisses mean when given out like pretzels and robbed of sacredness?

PS.  That pretzel is heart-shaped!  So even if you just give someone a pretzel, you still love them.  Gotta run this metaphor dry…

“The Lord answers our prayers, but it is usually through another person that he meets our needs….”

"The Lord answers our prayers, but it is usually through another person that he meets our needs....""The Lord answers our prayers, but it is usually through another person that he meets our needs...."

A few weeks ago, I called my friend Alex ( Alex is gender-neutral, and of course is not his/her real name.  But I double-checked anyways and now publish this with his/her permission).  Alex did not answer the phone, but the following text conversation ensued:

Alex:  Hey!  I’m at work.  How are you?

Katherine: Haha, I figured.  Just calling to say hi!  Call back when you can. No rush, just thought of you and wanted to let you know.

Alex:  Katherine, I truly believe you were inspired to call me.  Thank you for following through with your thoughts even if you didn’t think anything of it.  When you called, I was in the bathroom crying having a really hard time, but your calling is an answer to my prayers.

Katherine:  Alex, I’m so glad I could lift your spirits a little.  You lift mine.  I really do hope things get better.  Call/text/email anytime!

Alex:  Katherine, thank you.  You are amazing!

I do not relay this text exchange to brag.  I just want to remind you that you never know what role you are playing in someone’s life.

The title of this post comes from this quote by President Spencer W. Kimball.

Don’t be afraid to reach out.

READERS:  Who’s day will YOU make with a terrific text?

🙂

Oh ya, and save your text messages!

“If the Church is true, it will win against any anti-Mormon crap out there,”

Screen shot 2013-08-16 at 5.31.16 PM

said a good friend once who helped me a lot in my faith journey.  I like that a lot.  I am not suggesting that we go dig through every piece of dirty laundry we can find.  But I’m no longer afraid of the big, tough issues.  Polygamy, Mountain Meadow’s Massacre, blacks and the priesthood, Salamander letters, that kind of thing.  I still don’t have all the answers (but have definitely gained some!), but I no longer feel anxiety.
