Look, I know I’m a WASP woman, so I’m a teensy bit scared about posting it, but in this case, Don Lemmon has ethos that Katherine does NOT. So I’ll stand behind him. Cool!
P.S. This post was inspired by a friend who works at the Food and Care Coalition in Provo. Shout-out, Mr/Mrs. Magoo!
I’m not a big fan of the film “Mean Girls.” I feel like in many ways it glamorizes girls being unkind and catty toward each other. And we all know I ain’t about that. But there is truth to be found in sometimes unexpected places:
“You have GOT to stop calling yourselves sluts and whores. It just makes it okay for guys to call you sluts and whores.”
Also, you are pretty, even if your Liz Lemon character isn’t always.
but we can all pursue our interests, express our talents, and CREATE.
So how ’boutcha get off this blog and in the words of Britney, do something?
If I never win a Grammy, you know I’ll be alright…
GO WRITE YOUR OWN!
I do love my readers, but don’t just be readers, be livers too. Like someone who lives, not like liver and onions or the organ that secretes bile…
If you ever find yourself in counseling/ therapy of any kind and it just isn’t working out with your shrink, don’t necessarily throw in the towel right away. Shop around a lil’, know what I mean?
I have seen Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband in concert three times. They are excellent musicians, creative songwriters and also very, very funny guys. I distinctly remember Ryan saying that this song was inspired by text message exchanges between himself and his wife. Awesome! So that’s just another plug for what I talked about earlier concerning saving your text-messages. Who knows, maybe you have a great hit in the making. Do it, ya’ll!
(me and my girls with some of the boys from the band)
And I know I should let the song speak for itself, but I just can’t help but give a little commentary. First of all, the chord structure is the same as Cannon. And I’m loving the trumpets/brassy sound of it all. And finally the lyrics? So cute 🙂
(Warning: there are a few instances of taking the Lord’s name in vain)
LOVE the acting in this clip. The tension between Carrie and Aidan in the repair shop is BRILLIANT!
SUCH A GOOD TAKE-AWAY MESSAGE!
“My whole life is on that computer.” I feel ya, Carrie girl. Boy do I ever.
Figuratively or literally.
I’ve had people email/FB/text me saying how much they appreciate my blog. And I appreciate that YOU appreciate it. It feels good to have readers, especially if I’m gonna get that Webby, BUUUUUT, remember that your story is more important than mine. Read my blog when you’re on your computer or Iphone or whatever, but don’t forget to LIVE YOUR LIFE!
This is one of those pictures. On the outside I just look like a girl with high cheekbones, a great sense of color, and someone who could sport a red lip with confidence and class. But on the inside, I was hurting pretty badly. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. Even beautiful people. Be kind.
Sometimes beauty isn’t recognized
when it contrasts with what you feel inside.
Colors can be deceiving, can’t they?
But I AM wearing one in both. Promise.
When you are so inspired that you have a hard time sleeping, (particularly if you live in the booming metropolis of Provo, which is basically the same thing as New York) it might be time for a sedative.”

In the words of BYU Professor Randy Bott, “Go and sin no more!”
Anymore you can think of?
I just ended that last sentence with a preposition, and IT’S STAYING!
Hear how ridiculous that sounds?
Well, it’s pretty much the same as “if she hadn’t been wearing that/alone at night/flirty/drunk, she wouldn’t have gotten into any trouble. She was asking for it.”

How bout we take that feeling of being a ‘has been” and turn it into a has been? (made it up, yes). Has been-ception, if you will…
Most of us have heard the following quote: “The best is yet to come.”
I used to roll my eyes and write that off as just a stupid pep talk. And maybe it is. But maybe it’s true. I wanna find out…what about you?

What a drag to say. “At least I still got yesterday.”
If you think it’s important for husbands to talk to their children even though they don’t see them as much as their mothers do, THEN TALK TO YOUR KIDS! Fathers, be good to your daughters…. (not one of his better songs)
If you aren’t married or don’t have kids, then talk to your nieces/nephews or friends’ kids! Get my drift?

Sadly, this famous painting by Edvard Munch captures the general feeling/ psyche/uncertainty/insecurity/depression/ spirituality/ identity/crisis of many people not only of the time when it was painted at the turn of the 19th century, but also of many people today in 2013. There have been times in my own life when I could photoshop my own face into that distorted figure and call it a self-portrait. So what is to be done? No easy answer, but here’s a thought: no matter your religion/ beliefs/ camp/political leaning, let’s at least try to show some love, respect, and kindness to try and ease that feeling a little. And maybe sometimes we can dance in the parking lot 🙂
