The Republican party has gotten a bad rep lately (duh!). But let us remember that some of us are smarter than others. People like me help give hope to the future of GOP 🙂

LOVES chocolate milk!
leche, leche everywhere and not a drop [more] to drink…
(‘cuz I gulped it all down 2 minutes after I bought it!)
*Hey, ya’ll, I phrase-twisted a famous line from Romantic poet Samuel Coleridge‘s ever influential piece “Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner.” I will write about it some day (can’t say when though). You should go read (about) that poem. QUIKly…
as long as it’s done in an Angelic way.
And Renae, you are my angel by the way. So are you, Natasha girl…
“He that hath the Spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil.”
Now good luck disagreeing with THAT!
and do you think the blue/white color scheme in the pix is an accident? only in ur dreamz…
is a very talented, innovative, and creative individual. However, many of her outfits, songs, dance moves, and overall life choices are highly objectionable (duh!) And that is not merely my opinion. That is a FACT. To borrow the words of Ms. Natasha Bedingfield, [Lady Gaga] is not the kind of girl you bring to mother.” Still, I cannot completely overlook her artistic gifts!
So what is one to do about this paradox of trash and talent coexisting in the same woman? I have coined a phrase that I believe perfectly captures this problem (and even offers a solution!). Check it stat:
What did you think?
1 single sentence to sum up LG.
to your daughter(s).
THAT INCLUDES NOT LETTING THEM GO CRAZY
(and not excusing their sins)!
Words cannot express how disappointed I am with not only Miley,
but also very much so with her family, particularly her father.
Mr. Cyrus, I am glad that you love your daughter and you want to support her in a time when many people (myself included) are so frustrated with her (rightfully so!), but don’t defend her despicable actions, especially when you should have helped prevent them in the first place!
(I don’t like the word stupid, but in extreme situations it is warranted.)
Billy Ray, your actions/words on the Piers Morgan show were:
Seriously, you are making my achy heart break…
That’s what life is all about!
Jason Mraz and Travie McCoy are both huge sources of inspiration, hope, humor, and joy for me. They are both so human and down to earth. And SOOOOO unbelievably talented. Lyrically, musically, stylistically, free-styling, song-writing, collaborating and solo work: you name it-they’ve got it! Not only that, but from what I have read and seen about them, they both seem like pretty decent guys too. And I know I’ve said this like 10x before, but Mr. Mraz is from Virginia, just like me! Seriously, these guys bring me joy through their art. Don’t want to get my hopes up, but I would love to meet them just to tell them as much.
Here’s my take on one of JM’s songs.
And here’s me doing my own “interpretation” of one of TM’s songs.
Thank you guys.
This is my message in a bottle,
I hope that you receive it
Thanks, Sam, Drew, and Tyler for never being anywhere CLOSE to this loser. I seriously debated whether or not I wanted to showcase such a slithery scumbag on this beautiful blog, but there is a good purpose, so that’s why I did it.
I’d MUCH rather have a brother figure type like this:
EXCEPT NO BLOOD RELATION PLEASE! I would really prefer my kiddos to have the traditional number of digits.
Phrase-twist on this post! Did you find it?
are better than others.
Hugh Hefner is not a hero. He is a ZERO. He is not someone to be admired. He is a sad, ugly old man who has made millions from an industry that has destroyed relationships, lives, jobs, freedom, confidence, health, and happiness. Total loser, if you ask me.
Plus, his red plush robe only makes him look more like the devil,
AND emphasizes his blood-shot eyes and blotchy complexion.
And ya’ll know how much I love free speech, but don’t even try to go there with me on this one because I will PULVERIZE every claim you make. That’s how good I am 🙂 And that’s how bad pornography is. So let’s hear what real men think of it:
Don’t care about/believe in religion/God/prophets? This guy doesn’t talk about it:
And neither does this girl:
Pornography is terrible in every way possible! It’s not sexy. It’s not hot. It causes abuse. It degrades something sacred. It it highly linked to drug use, depression, crime, and other problems. Bourne Ultimatum? I wish we could make it the PORN Ultimatum! But until then, we just have to try our very best to control ourselves and keep this trash out of our lives in every way possible. Sound good? Peeeeeerfect.
But back to mansions, if we Stay out of the Smut that Satan Spreads, we can party it up at this one!
In my Father’s House are many mansions... I go to prepare a place for you.
(and for further reading, I also write about chastity/purity/sex/temples here)
PS. Think I’ve covered all my bases, ya’ll. And I don’t even play sports.
PPS. If you are involved in pornography, there is hope, both professional and spiritual. Keep fightin’
PPPS. Even Mr. Hefner could repent through the Atonement.
still considering law school…
Abortion is a loaded topic, and there is of course mountains more to say about it. But let’s not overlook this simple truth. Here is the LDS Church’s official stance.
Also, here’s a VERY powerful video. It’s not graphic/bloody (no aborted fetuses), but again it’s powerful.
(TATW read them!)
What you want? Morning sickness or the sickness of mourning?
BRILLIANT phrase-twist, Mr. Cannon. Wow.
And don’t be emailing me about your special circumstances
and say I’m judgmental.
I know there are those circumstances.
I know that.
“My body is a temple, and YOU don’t have a recommend.”
Another phrase twist with a specific Mormon flare. But I ain’t diggin’ this one. It seems too sexual, too arrogant, too exclusionary (particularly in relation to LDS temples) and too literal. I believe in chastity, but don’t think we need to talk about it in a suggestive way, know what I’m sayin’? There’s gotta be a way to express our views on modesty/virtue WITHOUT doing that kind of thing.
The English teacher in me has to ask, “Do you agree. Why or why not?”
PS. I suppose this post is a bit hypocritical since I DID write one comparing Mormon temples to sex/chastity. But it’s more classy, I think 🙂
Part-time journal, part-time missionary, part-time teacher, part-time money-maker (although I’m looking into getting a few more hours there, know what I mean?), part-time musician, part-time keeper (in touch with family and friends), part-time therapy, et cetera….. but full-time AWESOME!
It’s a Jill of all Trades. Just like me 🙂
Never thought I’d live to see the day, but yes, Katherine Anne Wilkinson has joined Twitter. And I would be THRILLED if you would follow me!
Thanks ya’ll, stay tuned, more wonderful things to come!
IS AWESOME! I recently had the slightest negative reaction to somebody who was perhaps a bit jealous of my tenacity and ambition in regards to this blog. Please understand that the feedback was NOT constructive or voicing a legitimate concern. It just was someone who was annoyed that I was a little blog happy, I guess. And remember what I said to those people once upon a time? 🙂
Now I don’t mean to cause controversy, purposefully stir the pot, or ruffle anyone’s feathers (at least not without good reason). And I DON’T believe that all publicity is good publicity. However, I view this as a milestone. So that person can take a hike, and meanwhile, I’ll get back to blogging. And to living.
when it comes to this blog, anything does NOT go. The LDS writer Joanna Brooks has made me think about this and it’s implications regarding that golden line of propriety. She has a policy of “Anything Goes” when it comes to comments on her blog posts, but I have firmly chosen required approval for mine. But let’s get away from talking comments because I don’t really have a ton (yet) anyways 🙂 I will not feature any experience/person/picture/video on this blog. Again, I run the risk of coming across as self-righteous, but that’s alright because I like running AND I like risks. And I also know that while I’m not perfect, I do my very best to not judge others while still holding true to my own convictions. So while I respect Joanna as a human, Mormon, AND woman (just like me!), I differ from her in this regard, and in many others as well.
But there are a LOT of things I do wish to feature on my blog. And many, many good things already in the works. Stay tuned!
I am not livid at this video. I do think it’s clever, well-made, and also like that it illustrates that men and women often speak different languages. It tactfully delves into the realm of female/male relationships without desperately resorting to sexuality for cheap attention. Oh, and I love Stevie Wonder, and also wouldn’t mind asking that woman how she styles her bangs…
However, it is problematic as well: The man in the video is reasonable, and the woman, though not completely crazy, is stereotyped as a little annoying and of course very silly and ignorant. Again, there have been way more offensive portrayals of this stereotype, but may I just add that as you enjoy this video, don’t forget about some of the subtle, deeper messages portrayed in it as well.
