At some point or another, everyone has to experience what Mormon writer Joanna Brooks calls “spiritual puberty,” which is basically the evolutionary growth process of one’s belief system. It’s where we trial-and-error wrestle with our faith, doubts, logic, and conscience as we try our best to reconcile any inconsistencies we might find.
Sometimes people even experience a complete paradigm shift where everything they once knew or believed for certain is turned on its head and then may or may not be profoundly changed. Spiritual puberty can be heartbreaking, embarrassing, disillusioning, and painful, but it can also be enlightening, comical, and faith-affirming.
What are YOUR experiences with spiritual puberty?
may cause some SCARES…
“The truth can be painful,
but ignorance hurts even more.”
I do not think that anymore.
“I do believe there are some atheists (celebrity and not) who have legitimate morality and goodness, but I still think it is very sad (perhaps even tragic) that there is an overall disregard of faith and belief in our society.”
is a question that everyone learns NOT to ask…
Just DYING for a subject change…
Actually the Best/ Celestial was that kiss, but some things are too sacred to photograph. Yes I just compared my brief kiss with Andy to the LDS Temple, and yes I am expecting a thunderbolt of blasphemy.
Oh,wanna know more about Celestial/Telestial/Terrestrial? Check it stat:
And wanna know more about good, better, best? Check it, stat:
are better in theory. But a definite A for AWESOME effort (see what I did there?)
P.S. Baby girl why on earth were you carrying a gift/present bag to the temple? No idea.
The paparazzi can be cruel.
They have the ability to catch celebs at their worst and share it with the world.
But when it comes to me, I’m not too worried. I don’t smoke, drink, or fool around. You ain’t gonna catch me stumbling out of a club at 3 am. And I’m not into the whole anger/violence thing/profanity, either. Plus, I already post worse pictures of myself than any photographer could ever catch.
So there’s just one thing more ya’ll need to know:
my left side is my good side.
Just at least let me put my makeup on first.
“Some things you shouldn’t get too good at. Like crying, lying and celebrity.”
My dad reading the Mormon almanac. Yes, you read that right. Mormons are such a weird cult that they have their own almanac. Haha, not really. It just is a book published every year that gives information about new church leaders, new temples, and statistics/demographics and stuff like that. Just the sort of stuff that gets David’s heart racing and his toes tapping 🙂
