While we all mourn the death ofRobin Williams, let’s be oh so careful to not subtly condone suicide. When people say things like “he’s free from the pain,” what does that communicate to people considering taking their own lives? Don’t make it seem like a choice he/she wants to make.
“If you know someone who is thinking of suicide, be a true friend and make sure he or she gets help.“
This is an opportunity to talk about mental illness, to talk about hope for those afflicted.
It’s not disparaging to try to learn from this tragedy.
It is hopeful and could possible save a life.
What kinda talk is that?”
-KW (both of them!)
PS: Before you call me insensitive, let me say that you know nothing about what I’ve seen in my family, friends, and my own life. Don’t tell me what I don’t know.
(occasional) Dirt-bag? Yes.
Morally ambiguous? Yes.
“You’re gonna love me, you’re gonna hate me,
but I’m gonna BE ME!”
And it’s quotes like that that keep me comin’ on back for more…
PUT SOME CLOTHES ON!
You’re not cute, you’re not sexy, you’re not funny, you’re not anything good when you instagram pictures of yourself in some hardly-there outfit. I don’t keep tabs on you AT ALL, but when I do see your name at the bottom of some news website, it’s almost always because you have posted some obscene selfie…
Kim, you’ve made mistakes in your past. So why must you continue to perpetuate a negative stereotype of yourself?!
You are a mother now. I do wish you would at least think of what that means as far as modesty and chastity go (among other things). When she gets older, is your daughter gonna wanna see pix of her mama’s junk hanging out? NOOOOOOOO!
We all know you love your body. We all know your family is filthy rich. We know. We know. We know.
Girl, you are in a sense undoing feminism and all the things that women have worked so hard for for so many centuries!
KK, come on now. It’s POSSIBLE for you to change…
So do it, please!
Friends, I got LOADZ more to write about the embarrassing and disgusting phenomenon (sorry if that’s mean!) known as “The Kardashians.”
Read more about a multi-faceted, “good vs. evil” identity
within every person’s soul.
Kanye West is someone about whom Katherine has VERY strong opinions.
And for good.
Haven’t mentioned Miss Kardashian yet in this blog.
We at war with terrorism,
We at war with racism,
but most of all, we at war with ourselves.
A thousand little wars I have to choose between
Some of the greatest battles will be fought within
the CHAMBERS OF YOUR OWN SOUL.
I’m in the war of my life.
it kinda comes out like this (warning: a bit of profanity):
Just to compare to the original, here it is (this one is clean):
Good thing I have this INSANELY talented rapper to collaborate with:
(and this clip doesn’t even show half of what he can do…)
More to come, but from the both of us: Dead Serious. 🙂
(and yes, I did just compare myself to Taylor Swift. And no, this isn’t the first time)
Darnie. Those letters are special to me; they are my (and Kanye’s!) initials.
The “K” sound is made by “qu,” as in quince (“15”, which IS a good bildungsroman Tay-tay song).
The “W’ sound is made by “ue” as in abuelo (“grandfather,” as in my grandfather Ernest)
Kinda cool, I guess. Still, I wouldn’t mind if these letters find their way into mainstream Spanish someday.
There are SOOOO many examples of this, but here are just a few:
1) Kanye West- (um, Taylor Swift incident, anyone?)
2) Eminem (If CNN has a top 10, that’s pretty bad Marshall)
3) John Mayer (You know I love you Johnny, but don’t be spilling your secrets about women! Plus, chastity is where it’s at, anyways.)
And countless, countless others. These people are often UNBELIEVABLY GIFTED, but when they get brought up in conversation, unfortunately that all often just gets forgotten because of mistakes they’ve made.
Just one more reason to keep my clothes modest. That and I haven’t hit the gym in a while.
PS. I do believe in repentance and redemption. I do.
Figuratively OR literally. A comfortable middle-ground (remember that phrase, it’s a good one).
I’m not gonna walk on eggshells,
but I’m not gonna shove it down your throat.
I’m not gonna shove it down your throat,
but I’m not gonna walk on eggshells.
And I know that Kanye West is not the best person on the planet, but don’t overlook his stellar talent with words and what he has to say on this subject:
“I ain’t here to convert atheists to believers, I’m just trying to say the way school need teachers, the way that Kathy Lee needs Regis, that’s the way I need Jesus.”
Yes, I, a total and complete WASP, just quoted some Kanye. What can I say?
Oh, plus he and I have the same initials. 🙂
And to bookend with a key phrase in my title, allow me to borrow a phrase from Natasha Bedingfield (who else?):
Won’t walk on eggshells so you don’t hear the “crazy” (?) things I’m saying…
How do YOU talk about your faith/conviction/opinions/religion in a way that is “bold, but not overbear[ing]”?
