PS. I think that is one of the dumbest lyrics ever written, but I was driving a few days ago when it came on the radio and I immediately thought of this famous scene from “SandLot.”

is NOT my cup of tea.
Figuratively or literally.
Let it be known that I DO think that Mr. Mortenson has done some excellent things.
CONTROVERSY. OVERSHADOWS. TALENT.
(click here for an explanation of this ubiquitous
[and sad!] sociological phenomenon)
Sigh.
If you fabricate your facts,
~Ellie Graham (journalistic boss character from Runaway Bride)
Oh, and this is tangential, but “Runaway Bride” is one of my favorite films EVER. If you think it is a mindless chick flick, you are dead wrong! There is so much thematic substance in it that can relate to everyone. And I do mean everyone. Plus it’s funny, clean, short, and has the cute and talented Ms. Julia Roberts!
But BACK TO YOU (Mr. Greg Mortenson)
(and this applies to everyone else too!)
O be wise, what can I say more?
Honest is whatcha gotta be
next time you write a book like “Three Cups of Tea”!
More to come on these issues (all of them!).
Much more.
PS. Go count my references if ya wanna

but only because I choose to have responsibilities.
I believe in accepting legitimate criticism and also in getting out of my comfort zone, but if anyone ever tries to force or pressure me into anything in a manner or form with which I am not comfortable in any way at all…
I’M GONE!
figuratively AND literally…
But as is always the case, I am kind and civil about this. Ain’t no James Dean, “rebel without a cause” thing going on here. This is NOT me being selfish or evading (legitimate) responsibility in any way at all.
I desire to work hard and stretch myself to serve others.
Still though. The number 1 person on my list is ME!
and for that I will NEVER apologize…
🙂
READERS!
1) What responsibilities do you choose to have?
2) What is your LINE OF PROPRIETY when it comes to responsibility?

is a sign
of confidence!
But it works best
when accompanied by true talent.
“Self-deprecating humor is a powerful tool in that it can help demonstrate our humanity and bring comic relief,
but still we artists need to take ourselves seriously enough to produce good art.”
~KathBath
(more to come on this idea)
Oh and by the way, this has not been the first time
that I’ve compared myself to John Mayer (duh!).
AND IT WON’T BE THE LAST!
Still waiting for that thunderbolt of blasphemy for the comparison.
Maybe it won’t be coming after all…
🙂
Thanks for help on this one TC. TC Wilkinson. TC Williams…

2) If you do use it, what are your experiences thus far?
3) What are the appropriate limits to self-deprecating humor?

was SERIOUSLY disturbed!
Sorry, Pettermint Patty. I know it’s not your favorite color, but I just LOVE this shirt because of all the memories it brings me. But I swear to never wear it in your presence lest you faint of disapproval.

Can’t always put a number on that kind of thing,
but OLDER THAN 13, AND 14, THAT’S FOR FREAKIN’ SURE!
Glad it didn’t work out with that girl you met when you were 13, Ludacris (props to you if you get my reference here).

The media today gives us a lot of mixed messages about sex,
I like the following clip because it perfectly captures the humor in the contradictions of things we hear and are taught on the subject matter:
but I believe that there are inspired leaders who can teach us truths about controversial and difficult subjects,
and also that there are still young people today who believe in chastity.
Wanna know more or have any input on the subject? Hit me up. Dead serious.

You know how in “The Princess Diaries” Mia has that weird writer neighbor? He has no social skills and he’s always really nervous and awkward and half the time he’s in his pajamas and probably won’t ever get married. He’s so sure that he’s on the verge of greatness, but in actuality will never make any money. Yep, that’s me.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard this phrase (or something along those lines), I wouldn’t even care about the fortune I plan on making from this blog 🙂 No but seriously, I’ve given this idea some real thought. And here’s what I’ve come up with: I do not mean to be a walking song. I can see how my near constant lyrical references could come off as being trite or cliche, not to mention potentially annoying. It’s just that if someone has already found the words that perfectly express what you are feeling, why would you try to find new ones? Economy of thought, people! Plus you can still be creative and original by borrowing art. Moulin Rouge, anyone?
