This should be incredibly obvious, but I’m just going to say it anyways:

THE CONTROVERSY KNOWN AS MILEY CYRUS IS NOT OK!

Image

Miley Cyrus’s recent crazy antics, self-exploitation, and blatant and obscene exhibition of sexuality are not cute.  They are not funny.  They are not sexy.  They are not empowering.  They are not entertaining.  They are not artistic.  They are not healthy.

THEY.  ARE.  SAD.

And friends, we NEED (young) women who are classy.  We need women who respect themselves and others.  We need these women as role-models for our own children.

One of my favorite musicians expresses this same sentiment:

I’m looking for a four-course meal that isn’t based in base desire
I’m looking for a lady that knows the soul is more than an appetizer

But back to the troublesome twerker:

Ms. Cyrus, I only just recently wrote you a letter concerning your disappointing music video “Wrecking Ball. (I wrote your confused father, Billy Ray, a letter as well).”  I didn’t expect to be writing about you again so soon, but you’ve left me no choice.

Miley seriously, you must make a change.

I beg of you to stop before you self-destruct.  Truly.

Please.  Stop.

Readers, as is always the case,

if you agree with what I’m saying,

please pass this along.

Thanks.

Jessica Simpson needs a grammar lesson,

Image

and Professor Wilkinson is up to the task!

Image

And Jess, notice that I took your animal prints example

so that you felt a bit more on my level.

(although it’s painfully clear who the English teacher is here…)

(1:22-1:40):

and now, smiley student, let me show you how it’s really done:

Grammar Recap:

1)  Avoid blatant self-contradictions (unless there is a highly specified purpose)

2)  Avoid using the same word twice within such a short time-span.

3)  Be ever so cautious about your level of commitment/definition when expressing surety/doubt.

4)  Wear a shirt that covers your stomach.

5)  Katherine loves aviator sunglasses…

🙂

*Oh, I would like to reiterate that surprisingly I do enjoy Ms. Simpson’s song.  Perhaps even more than this guy’s:

Weird, huh?

Last thoughts for this post

(and actually the most important one too!):

Jessica, your (future) children REALLY deserve for you to be married to their father.

Hozabout you get on that one?

Sooner than later, please.

Not meaning to judge or be unkind

Just sayin…

dear readers, I HIGHLY recommend clicking on the above link and reading this.

It is an incredibly awesome document!

🙂

Oh, and this is hardly the first post in which I’ve exposed grammatical errors in ubiquitous pop songs.

Carly Rae Jeppson needed a little help not too long ago.

Sometimes telling the truth is terribly painful, uncomfortable, embarrassing, and inconvenient,

Image

BUT IT HAS TO HAPPEN!

“The truth will set you free”

~John 8:23

“The truth can be ugly beyond imagination,

but concerning such topics as abuse, we simply CANNOT ignore it.

It may set others free as well.  Figuratively and literally.”

READERS:

How do these principles/ideas apply to YOU?

And I know that they do somehow.

Birth

Abortion is a loaded topic, and there is of course mountains more to say about it.  But let’s not overlook this simple truth.  Here is the LDS Church’s official stance.

Also, here’s a VERY powerful video.  It’s not graphic/bloody (no aborted fetuses), but again it’s powerful.

And raw.

And hopeful.

Lyrics here.

(TATW read them!)

What you want? Morning sickness or the sickness of mourning

BRILLIANT phrase-twist, Mr. Cannon.  Wow.

And don’t be emailing me about your special circumstances

and say I’m judgmental.

I know there are those circumstances.

I know that.

Look, I know I’m a WASP woman, so I’m a teensy bit scared about posting it, but in this case, Don Lemmon has ethos that Katherine does NOT.  So I’ll stand behind him.  Cool!

P.S.  This post was inspired by a friend who works at the Food and Care Coalition in Provo.  Shout-out, Mr/Mrs. Magoo!

He’ll help ya out, that’s how.  With the driving AND with the kids.

PS.  Read more about my driving woes here.

PPS.  I see a connection to Maslowe’s Hierarchy and to Karl Jung here.  Will explore further in another post…

PPPS.  No, this is not a pregnancy announcement.  It’s not even a wedding announcement.  Darnie.

Spelling of Innocence vs. Spelling of Experience

innocence-and-experience   spelling1

I once volunteered in a 2nd grade classroom where a little boy spelled “six” wrong out loud.  Almost immediately I thought of the William Blake poetry collection.

It’s incredible….

Just found this video from about 3 years ago.  Watching it was fun.  And funny.  And painful (is there ANYONE who likes his/her own speaking voice?)  But what’s incredible is how much I see myself and all my core beliefs again.  Humor, beauty, kindness, expression, creativity, Christ, understanding.  Not bad.  Even if it wasn’t one of my better hair days 🙂  Now I wanna go find me an apricot!

“You could always just replace my birth control pills with tic-tacs.”

Thought up this line a few years ago.   I will use it in one of the following 2 situations:

A)  my husband wants kids before I do….

B)  I  sell it to a screenwriter who writes it into a script where the main character (who may or may not be played by me)’s husband wants kids before she does.

Considering the fact that my clock is ticking, option B is looking like it’s gonna win out.  Hollywood, any takers?

I have this theory…

Image

about people with pictures (particularly FB profile pictures) of themselves with children that are not directly their own (like a niece or nephew).  We want people to think we love them (which we do!), but really we just think we look super hot and want others to see and think we are good with kids and stuff.  Ain’t pointing any fingers.  I do it too!  Now I love my little twin nieces. But come on now, you know who this picture is really about 🙂
