The Surprise of a Lifetime!

This is Thomas:

Thomas is a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He attended Southern Virginia University (where he did music with my mama!), and after graduating, made the brave decision to serve a full-time LDS mission at the age of 24.  When making a quick stop in Utah to stock up on missionary gear, Thomas experienced a BIG surprise.  Check it out!

So awesome, huh?  Actually, he was one of 15 soon-to-be missionaries who got this star treatment:

When a comedian spoofs a controversial topic, makes fun of himself, doesn’t hurt anyone’s feelings, AND is hilarious.

That’s the sweet spot right there, ya’ll.

PS.  He ended up marrying that girl in the pink coat.  Virgin drinks all around!

PPS.  I couldn’t find Ryan Stone’s website, but here’s his youtube channel.

Give me one reason….. that I shouldn’t blog about the first thing I recorded in a professional studio!

I was just 18 when I recorded this.  It was a pretty cool experience at a time in my life when I needed expression and creativity (kinda like now!).  There is a tension, though, as I wanted to sound stylish and slur my words just a little, but then that is at the sacrifice of enunciation.  The Sophie’s choice of singing, I guess.  Take a listen:

Oh, and here’s the email that my guitar teacher, Frank Keim sent me.  I feel comfortable sharing his contact info because he IS still in business.

I wouldn’t be the musician that I am today without him.  Truth!

Every once in a while, the experience is BETTER than the myth.

Myth:

Experience:

This is Kenneth Christofferson (along with his lovely wife Leslie).  He was my LDS bishop and continues to be a great friend and father figure to me and to countless others.  This man’s name is no coincidence-he is a Christlike person who defies all stereotypes of the sketchy car-salesman.  Bishop Christofferson has helped me out of many a bind, both spiritual and physical (you better believe he’s helped me more than once with my car!).  He works at Ken Garff Chevrolet in American Fork, Utah (Ken works for Ken!).  If you are in the market for a new car, check them out!  http://www.kengarffchevrolet.com/
And yes, I got his full permission for this post.  And no, he’s not paying me. 🙂
Readers!
Who do YOU know that shatters negative stereotypes?
And who do you know who confirms stereotypes that writers are a little goofy?
holding grudges over love is ancient artifacts…
