I am not livid at this video. I do think it’s clever, well-made, and also like that it illustrates that men and women often speak different languages. It tactfully delves into the realm of female/male relationships without desperately resorting to sexuality for cheap attention. Oh, and I love Stevie Wonder, and also wouldn’t mind asking that woman how she styles her bangs…
However, it is problematic as well: The man in the video is reasonable, and the woman, though not completely crazy, is stereotyped as a little annoying and of course very silly and ignorant. Again, there have been way more offensive portrayals of this stereotype, but may I just add that as you enjoy this video, don’t forget about some of the subtle, deeper messages portrayed in it as well.

Think I should add this skill to my resume? 🙂
but you Facebook it anyways because:
A) Your hat, hair, and makeup looks cute. (Oh, yeah and I like these girls sometimes)
B) It’s the ONLY picture you took when you flew out to surprise your friend (even though she picked up on all of your “subtle” hints).
And don’t think it’s an accident that both of these pictures feature my left-side. To the left, to the left! Come to think of it, I AM irreplaceable 🙂
(if you recall I wrote earlier about my title troubles)
STAYING AS IT IS! (but will probably drop the “wordpress” part of it soon. looking into that)
P.S. I’ve received exactly 3 emails on the subject matter
“Looking for a better way to get up out of bed
Instead of getting on the Internet and checking a new hit”
“little bit of humble, little bit of cautious”

True story. Plus I STILL don’t really understand all that much about football, even after all these years. Sorry, Dad.
PS. Can you see my cute pink glove? 99 cents from Walgreens, if I remember correctly. This girl loves a good deal.
I’ve had a few people respond to some of my posts in ways that make me think that THEY think I hate myself. Posts about bad makeup or being single or whatever. I appreciate your concern, and also know that even with such a flavorful writer’s voice as mine, it can be hard to read emotion via technology. But please know that I am happy! This is not me fishing for compliments. This is not me rejecting compliments either 🙂
If I didn’t have the confidence to poke fun at my insecurities, I wouldn’t do it. And here’s the thing. The sweet spot that I’ve gotten to has made it so that my insecurities lessen (and even sometimes disappear!) when I find the humor in them.
So put that in your pipe and smoke it!
“Attention” gets a bad name. We immediately think of “show-offs” or annoying kids bragging about their fastest mile time. But we all need attention. We all need someone to notice us. We all need someone to sit next to us in the cafeteria or to clap after our performance (unless we’re in a Mormon Church). We all need to be home/visit-taught every month. Sure it can get out of hand and become too much of a priority. If you sit around waiting for people to like your FB status, you might have a problem. But don’t cringe at the word. I mean, without attention, how would Mark Zuckerburg be making his billions?
What kind of attention do you need/desire?
The most important thing in the world (or my life)? Nowhere near close.
Awesome nonetheless? Fo shizzle!
