“How in the heck am I supposed to raise seed unto the God of Israel when I can’t even drive my freakin’ car?!”

Image

He’ll help ya out, that’s how.  With the driving AND with the kids.

PS.  Read more about my driving woes here.

PPS.  I see a connection to Maslowe’s Hierarchy and to Karl Jung here.  Will explore further in another post…

PPPS.  No, this is not a pregnancy announcement.  It’s not even a wedding announcement.  Darnie.

“Katherine, you’re gonna find it.”

When meeting with therapist Zach, I found the words to express that in the past I’d gotten all my meaning and identity from my association with Mormonism.  And with the collapse of that (don’t worry, I have since rebuilt that one), what else was there?  What was the purpose of my life?

He wasn’t necessarily a warm-fuzzy guy.  (he wasn’t a Nazi either), and he DEFINITELY wasn’t preachy (thank goodness!).  But it was one of those rare moments in our therapy sessions where you could tell that he wanted to give me a figurative hug (can’t risk a lawsuit).  But all he said to me, with just a hint of a guidance-counselor-esque tone, was “Katherine, you’re gonna find it.”

I FOUND IT!  But I might lose all my creativity tomorrow, so better get back to writing 🙂

Readers, I don’t have to spell it out for you.  Text-to-self connection.  Go.

“I will stand as a WITNESS of God at all times, and in all things, and in all places.”

This was a significant part of the theme I would state every Sunday in Young Women’s.  It comes from this passage in the Book of Mormon.

I am not an official spokesperson or representative of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  (But check out more about Michael Otterson here-he’s one of my absolute faves!)  But I still do believe it is important (AND GREATLY DESIRE!) to stand as a witness of God, even, and especially when it comes to this blog.

Now I am not perfect by any stretch.

Yes!  (hard to believe I know…)

(“um,” I will continue, thanks John…)

And is there sometimes a bit of possible tension between my 3 fold identity of Mormon, woman, and human?

Absolutely.

But has there ever been a clash that I believe could hurt the image of the Church or cause major confusion?

No.

And if there ever was, I don’t believe I would expose it, at least not completely.

Plus it’s not like I’m super famous anyways so even if I did I’m not sure anyone would care.  🙂

I’m only one voice in a million, but you ain’t takin’ that from me!

(in case you are too lazy/prideful to click on that above link,

it is from this waving woman…)

ANYWAYS, just wanted to express that I am conscious of the fact that this blog in some small way represents not only myself, not only my family, not only my friends, not only the LDS Church, but also Christ himself.

Is that blasphemous or arrogant?  No way, Jose.  Peace out!

PS.  I’d give my bangs (first picture!) a B+ that day.

READERS!

What are you a witness of?

And please don’t stop reading my blog because I

ended that last sentence with a preposition…
