The Lord Meets You Where You Are

“It avails not, neither time or place—distance avails not; I am with you.”
(Walt Whitman “Leaves of Grass”)

“I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.”
(Mosiah 24:14 in the Book of Mormon)

“Look To God And Live” (a poem)

Screen shot 2016-02-24 at 9.21.14 PM

“[I]n me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
-John 16:33

Desperate for peace, desperate for sleep
Desperate for clean, desperate for me
Too much on my mind, too much on my plate
I’m struggling to carry this ponderous weight

It’s the best of times in this heart of mine
But the stress of mind is the worst of times
I’m just a child and cannot bear it all yet
But as the tide rises, don’t ever forget

Though in this world I’ll have tribulation
Be of good cheer; there’s cause for celebration
When I’m powerless, tired, and so overwhelmed
I’ll lift my eyes to Him who’s at the helm

Trust in Christ with all my strength, might, and mind
when there’s nothing left to give
And when my fragile heart gets torn apart,
I’ll look to God and live

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, ye are little children…and cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along.”
-Doctrine & Covenants 78:17-18
