I used to think that most non-denominational Christians were not only church haters, but also were just a bunch of fence-sitting pansies who were too afraid to take a stand (mean-spirited and judgmental, I know!)…

I do not think that anymore.

Still Christian!

Still Latter-day Saint/Mormon!

I do feel bad that I used to have this condescending attitude toward Christians who choose not to follow or participate in one certain denomination or religious sect.  But here’s the thing:

If my own faith is centered around Christ, with all other doctrines and details being merely peripheral (which is true of the Latter-day Saint theology), why should I doubt the sincerity and piety of others whose beliefs are essentially the same?

“And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.”

2nd Nephi 25:26

Yeppers, that pretty much says it all.  And even though that passage is Mormon specific, I’ll bet that pretty much all believers agree with its general message.  So sorry I ever thought the way I did, friends.

Hope you can forgive me…

🙂

*Just a note:  I still do think that it is possible to be too general in moralism and even underly-dogmatic (is that even a word?).  Read Jewish NY Times writer David Brooks’s thoughts on this idea here,  as it specifically relates to the Book of Mormon Broadway musical.

  1. I know what it is to be annoyed by Christians I was once a faithfull lds member and I loved it but the lord has gave me something that no institution could give me he gave me truth and I constantly ignored it something so much stronger than all of my testimonys combined. I was a mess inside I couldn’t do it on my own I was reborn into the body of Christ and now understand that when he died for me I was saved in my sin and I live for him
Im sorry if some Christians seem unloving and some probably are unloving
but someone that is truly reborn would speak out of love. even if it dosnt seem loving
my calling is to reach out to lds and I say just this go directly to him and ask him what truth is and tell him you would wait as long as it takes plrove those dorn christians wrong

I say this out of love

    • Thank you, Bobby. I respect everyone’s right to worship God as they wish. I feel peace and comfort knowing that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint is the restored Church on earth today. However, no institution ever takes the place of Christ, so I see what you’re saying. Thanks, friend.
