The LDS Church firmly supports marriage as between one man and one woman (duh). Many people are uncomfortable with this and (strongly) disagree (duh). Some of those people are Mormons themselves, sometimes prominent.
I am conflicted as to how I feel about these Mormons: A part of me respects and validates their freedom to disagree. But another part of me is puzzled and wonders if they think they are smarter than the apostles.
When they are learned, they think they are wise,
and they hearken not unto the counsel of God,
for they set it aside supposing they know for themselves.”
I never intend to be unkind, but I ain’t afraid to speak my mind…
Also, I know that Ms. Brooks and Mr. Dehlin have done some incredible things to reach out to those of the Mormon faith who may feel alienated and bring understanding and compassion. For that, I admire and thank them.
PS. Here is the ultimate resource if you have inquiries/concerns about the LDS Church’s official stance on marriage. Seriously, this website is amazing!
